INTRODUCTION
The Department of Finance and Accounts is made up of two directorates. These are the Directorates of Finance and Budget.
The Department of Finance and Accounts is responsible for the management of all financial matters in Defence Headquarters.
The Department is headed by the Chief of Finance and Accounts who is one of the Principal Staff Officers of the Chief... of Defence Staff.
The Department advises the Chief of Defence Staff on all financial matters in line with Government Financial Regulations.
It is the duty of the Department to coordinate the preparation of the annual budget of Defence Headquarters,
ensures that proper books of accounts are maintained and same rendered to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department is headed by a Chief of Finance and Accounts, who is of the rank of Major General from the Army. The two directorates are headed by Director of Accounts in the rank of cadre and Director of Budget in the rank of A cadre.
A Civilian Chief Accountant and an Internal Auditor form part of the administrative structure of the Department. ... Anytime Nigerian troops are deployed in local or foreign operations, a finance officer of the rank of major or equivalent is posted to administer them. The Defence Headquarters Finance is currently headed by Major General KI Yusuf.

General Adesope a member of the 38th Regular Course is the 5th Chief of Defence Accounts and Budget of the Defence Headquarters. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science, a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Masters Degree of Science in Policing Security and Community Safety from London Metropolitan University, UK London. He is a Member/Fellow of various professional bodies amongst which are:
